Elena Zammit (Choreographer)

Starting her dance training locally at a young age, Elena Zammit was then awarded a 3-year scholarship by the Malta Arts Scholarships following a successful audition at the age of 18. She was also awarded a Dance and Drama (DADA) award by Northern Ballet School UK, where she graduated from 3 years later.

During her time at Northern Ballet School, Elena was privileged to work with renowned choreographers including David Needham (ex-principal, Northern Ballet Theatre), Eric Carpenter (ex-principal soloist, Le Lido) and Shannon Lilly-Parker (ex-principal, San Francisco Ballet). She performed with Manchester City Ballet in Giselle (Corp de ballet), Paquita (Soloist) and Coppelia (Soloist). Upon graduating, Elena was offered her first professional dance contract with Celebrity Cruises. She performed as a Production Dancer in several countries in shows produced by Poet Theatricals, which included Circo Luci SILHOUETTE, Physical Magic VELOCITY and Broadway Nights.

Elena returned to Malta in May 2014 and joined Moveo Dance Company in September 2014. She has danced in numerous productions with the company including the company’s recent production, The Other Door- What’s Wrong, Why Not? which was performed in Berlin, Germany. In August 2016, Elena attended a 2-week intensive in New York City, USA at Peridance Capezio Centre where she worked with some of the most influential choreographers in the contemporary and ballet dance world today including Cindy Salagado (Kidd Pivot), Victor Quijada (Rubberband Dance), Igal Perry and Sidra Bell.

At Masquerade School for the Performing Arts, Elena is Head of Dance, Artistic Director of M Dance Company and also teaches Ballet, Jazz, Musical Theatre Dance and Contemporary. She holds a Diploma in Dance Instruction in both the Cecchetti and ISTD methods of Classical Ballet.

Elena is also a current student at the University of London, reading for a Bachelor of Science degree Business and Management.
