Guitar provides a vehicle for personal expression whilst at the same time developing fine motor skills and complex co-ordination. It promotes discipline, responsibility and commitment to working towards a goal. Above all else, guitar lessons will transmit a skill that can be shared with and appreciated by others. These classes are open to students aged 7 years up to adults and students are required to have their own guitar/beginners guitar.
Karl Galea is a guitarist active in various forms of music including jazz, manouche swing, funk, soul and folk. In 2008 he moved to London to study at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance. After earning his Bachelor of Music Degree in 2011 he continued to work in London as a music teacher and session guitarist. Locally, some of his recent projects include the manouche jazz group Swing Nuages and also the Elata Quartet. He is a member of the polystylistic Maltese music group Kazinska, with whom he performed at Expo 2015 in Milan. He has appeared at the Malta Jazz Festival as part of the Fringe Youth Jazz Ensemble and continues to perform regularly with various jazz, funk and soul combos.
DRUM lessons are held on an individual basis and will include a variety of different aspects of drumming, from learning how to properly hold the sticks to understanding and applying ergonomic techniques and mastering the kit. There will be a focus on musicality, appreciating different genres, styles and concepts as well as learning how to read music notation. These classes are open to students aged 5 years up to adults and students are required to have their own drumsticks and drum pad.
GEORG ZAMMIT is a Maltese drummer, commencing his practical studies as a percussionist with John Farrugia, after studying for nine years, achieved his grade 8 in percussion. At age 11 he started music theory studies with Mro. Ray Sciberras and at age of 21 he joined the Armed Forces band as a musician and singer and today he is a professional percussionist and tenor.
