Masquerade Theatre Arts School rounded off this scholastic year with an energetic and memorable Summer Experience from 20th July till 1st August for children, youths and adults.
For the last nine years, Masquerade’s Summer Experience has offered the perfect opportunity for performers as well as all those with a keen interest in the performing arts, to meet like-minded participants. This year was no exception as the workshops offered a unique view on performance while being confronted with challenging approaches. As in previous years, the workshops were conducted by foreign guest tutors specialized in different areas. This year’s team consisted of Nick Potts (Drama/Acting), Rebecca Elliott-Moore (Dance/Movement) and Luke Thornton (Singing).
Participants experienced the lifestyle of a performing arts student - with daily classes in jazz dance, fitness, musical theatre song presentation, improvisation, textual studies, vocal technique, and choreography. The varied workshops had the common aim of encouraging students to open up to new ways of using dialogue and exploring the unique raw power of theatre and its impact on an audience, combining various elements including text, characterisation, movement, dance and voice.
At the end of this intensive two-week workshop, the participants showcased extracts of their work to family and friends during a demonstration in which the enthusiasm and enjoyment of the participants and audience was apparent.
Well-done to all the participants and tutors for their excellent work!
