MASQUERADE is proud to announce an open call for auditions for their next big show, R & J Forever. This new version follows the classic story of Romeo and Juliet, set in a modern-day version of the city of Verona. The Capulets are the spoilt, wealthy sons and daughters of celebrities and millionaires living the high life on Capulet hill, whereas the Montagues are the working class children of the regular townsfolk who live and work around Montague Market. Since the population of Verona is so small, there is only one school to accommodate the township’s children. However the Capulets and Montagues are segregated and God forbid should the two ever meet…
Written by Malcolm Galea (Porn: The Musical, Aladdin), and directed by Wesley Ellul (Spring Awakening, Fuente Ovejuna) this new pop musical version will retell the classic tale of star-cross’d lovers whose forbidden passion for one another brought about a tragic end for both. The show will be driven by a clever medley of some a fantastic tracks by artists such as Adele, Guns and Roses, Christina Aguilera and a great many more that will combine the music of several decades and different genres. Vocal coaching will be in the hands of Roger Tirazona (13 The Musical, Simply Webber).
The show will be staged at St Agatha’s Theatre on the 16th – 18th of March 2012. Rehearsals for the show will begin mid January, but some workshops may be held during the Christmas break.
Auditions are being held on SUNDAY 11 DECEMBER FROM 10AM ONWARDS at MASQUERADE premises in Floriana.
