Masquerade Junior Company will be performing the play DNA by Dennis Kelly during the NOTTE BIANCA activies being held in Valletta on Saturday 4th October.
A group of teenagers take their teasing of an outcast within their circle of friends too far. After just having a laugh, they find themselves struggling to cover up the result of their immoral and cruel behaviour with even more questionable steps. Unwise choices are consequently made and the teenagers exclaim desperately: What are we going to do now? This play conveys how consequences have to be dealt with in a responsible manner, and one cannot simply run away from the wrong that has been done.
From a psychological point of view, one could analyse the portrayal of the dark side of human nature and its selfishness at its best in such a play as this. Did you enjoy the novel Lord of the Flies? If yes, then this play is definitely for you. The themes of bullying, dominance and peer pressure dominate and thus it is very relevant to todays youth. Moreover, humour is certainly not absent, even though the subject matter is considerably dark.
DNA by Dennis Kelly will be performed by a bright, young cast of performers who are part of the young company at Masquerade. As a play it is very naturalistic in style and Dennis Kellys words put into action will surely take you through a dark journey of self destruction.
Direction of DNA is in the hands of Daniela Blagojevic.
