Isabel Warrington is one of Malta's leading theatre actors, with a career spanning over 26 years during which she played a wide range of characters. Some of the more notable ones being the title role in Willy Russell's 'Shirley Valentine’, Mrs Birling in ‘An Inspector Calls’, Rebecca in ‘De-Terminated, Becky in ‘Becky Shaw’, Cora in 'Calendar Girls’, Celia in ‘The Hand of God’, Stevie in 'The Goat or Who is Sylvia’, Mrs Warren in 'Mrs Warren's Profession', Fay in 'A Chorus of Disapproval', Donna in 'Kvetch', Portia in 'The Merchant of Venice’. Her recent stage appearances were Miss Prism in 'The Importance of Being Ernest', Mother Miriam Ruth in 'Agnes of God', various characters in '2044' and Sarah Turing in 'Breaking the Code'. Her TV work includes the docudrama 'The Women of George Cross Island' in which she plays Mabel Strickland.
Her musical theatre credits include: Tanya in ‘Mamma Mia’, Audrey in 'Little Shop of Horrors', The Witch in 'Into The Woods', Jenny in 'Company' and Velma in 'Chicago'. She has appeared as the 'baddy' in several Christmas pantomimes.
Isabel is an accomplished painter whose work is largely influenced by the theatre having become well known for her caricatures and whimsical style as well as her landscapes. She held her third solo exhibition in June 2022.
She also designs costumes for the stage. Productions include the opera, 'L'Elisir d'Amore' staged at Theatru Manoel and 'Romeo and Juliet' (2015), pantomimes: ‘Treasure Island’ (2015), ‘Cinderella’ (2017), ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ (2018) and 'Aladdin' (2019) all staged at MFCC. Her more recent work includes 'Laringa Mekkanika' (2019), Trouser Girl (2020), and Ma Kuragg w Ulieda (2022) for which she also created the backdrop for the piece. Her love for creative thinking in favour of the environment has led her to devise costumes and props using recyclables. Most of her recent work has been created this way. She was props and costume designer for the theatre festival for schools, Trikki Trakki for three consecutive years.
